Random wrong precipitation rate values

Random wrong precipitation rate values
I have a Meteobridge and airbridge communicating with a Davis Instruments 6322. The sensors all seem to be working correctly, except the precip rate is all over the place. There has been no rain for days, but the rain rate is constantly showing values from 7"/hr to 15"/hr.
You can see my WS here: http://www.wunderground.com/personal-we ... NMALBUQ180
Where are these precip rates generated? How can I get it to stop creating erroneous and useless values?
Thanks!

Re: Random wrong precipitation rate values
Latest release should have that fixed for the Airbridges. Please power cycle the Airbridge to get newest versions and report if rain rates still go wild.
Re: Random wrong precipitation rate values
Need some assistance here. Getting a set of false data. Precip Rate showing values, but weather is sunny and dry. Saw post to restart Meteobridge; attempted this but no resolution.
Can see April 13 results here: http://www.wunderground.com/personal-we ... 81#history
The Precip. Accum. Total is correctly reading 0mm.
Need some guidance please. Thanks in advance.

Re: Random wrong precipitation rate values
what kind of station is connected?
Re: Random wrong precipitation rate values
Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus (Wireless)
Re: Random wrong precipitation rate values
What is the firmware of the Meteostick (see "messages" on "system" tab)?
Did you try updating to the most recent version (2.2) by the button on "System" tab?

Re: Random wrong precipitation rate values
Thanks for this suggestion, but yes i have tried all of that before I asked for additional help. Running Meteobridge 2.5 (Apr 6 2015, build 6251), FW 1.4 AND Meteostick Version 2.2
I am starting to wonder if the issue is possibly on the WU web site side.
Here is the "live Data" tab that is indicating that the Metrostick appears to be reporting Rain Rate of ZERO. Correct?

Re: Random wrong precipitation rate values
I think you are right. For today and yesterday the max value in Meteobridge historical data section shows 0.00 mm/h.
Given that I doubt Meteobridge does invent rain rates when sending to WU. Do other weather network fed by your Meteobridge
show the same issue?

Re: Random wrong precipitation rate values
Sorry for the delay in the response. I had to add a couple of weather networks to my MeteoBridge/MeteoStick appliance/application to see if the anomaly of reporting false rain rates on WeatherUnderground was seen on other PWS sites also. I can confirm that the same data is erroneously being reported to the weatherforyou site also. This can be seen at http://www.pwsweather.com/obs/LAKEVIEW.html
The values for rain rate are identical on both sites and can been confirmed as shown on the WU site: http://www.wunderground.com/personal-we ... 81#history
I can also confirm that the Vantage Pro 2 console of my Davis station shows NO RAIN (which is the reality in our dry spring) over this same time-period of Saturday April 18, 2015.
It appears that the MeteoBridge is generating a rain rate value that is not representative of what is being received from the Davis VP2 Plus Wireless.
Wondering if anyone else is seeing this strange behaviour also? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Re: Random wrong precipitation rate values
Here is a screenshot of the MeteoBridge LIVE DATA screen while the web sites are erroneously reporting a Rain Rate. You can see that the Live Data is showing zeros.

Re: Random wrong precipitation rate values
Wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue with precipitation rate on a Davis VP2 units on meteobridge/meteostick appliance solution. Beautiful sunny day and precipitation rate on both WU and PWSweather websites are showing same data with SIGNIFICANT Precipitation Rate activity.
The VP2 console is clearly showing NO RAIN today and if I look at the data on the Meteobridge Live Data page, no rain activity reported.
Fairly irritating web site results. Really would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance ...

Re: Random wrong precipitation rate values
Pepe,
Your issue sounds very similar to the one I was having (and has now been resolved), although my false readings were in the wind data. The only times I was getting the wrong readings was if I had another piece of software running on my computer at the same time (think it's called IP Passthrough?). Is it a possibility that this is what is happening in your case?
In your earlier screenshot, you can see the high rain rates in the max column for April and "Year 2015" (showing a huge value of 1463mm/h), although in your more recent screenshot, these values are 0 (were you able to clear them???)
Not sure what the actual fix was for my issue, but wondering if it could be similar?

Re: Random wrong precipitation rate values
Thanks for the suggestion, however I have no computer involved. Utilizing MeteoBridge connected directly to my router. Firmware is up to date; just loaded most recent release. Will see what happens over the next couple of days.
Re: Random wrong precipitation rate values
Ok. I think I have solved the issue and wanted to distribute the solution.
I have done lots of experimenting and believe the solution to my false Precipitation Rate posting to WU and other web sites by my MeteoBridge/MeteoStick apparatus combination was created by decreasing the Rx Sensitivity of the setup from the -95 dB default value to -80dB.
Since I made this final adjustment 3 days ago things appear to be operating correctly. Fingers still crossed that this remains the fact.
Wanted to pass this info along to everyone to assist anyone that was as frustrated as I was with erroneous data being communicated to the websites.
Enjoy.
