Did some testing today and find things have in fact changed from a few months ago, just when they changed unable to say at this time as can not retrieve the 2016 data at this stage.
This system was recording rain ok back in late Feb/March but things have changed. Ran two separate equal calibrations today through a Vantage Vue which is currently connected to the MB Pro via RF
Run 1 failed to register any cumulative rainfall at all (zero) but rain rate was registered and spot on with the Davis data. This was a short period calibration of around 37.5mm over approx. 45 minutes
Run 2 registered 23mm (out of 37.5mm) during a quite slow calibration ~ approx. 2 hours
So yes I also see a problem currently but one which appears to have only developed in the past 6 weeks or there a-bouts?
Need clerification on how rain is measured... **solved**

This is interesting. The first storm I recorded was only low by 0.88% This was on January 17-19, all subsequent storms from January 22 on were at least 9% low. I don't have any older data since the system was installed just before the January 17th storm.Mattk wrote:Did some testing today and find things have in fact changed from a few months ago, just when they changed unable to say at this time as can not retrieve the 2016 data at this stage.

It is difficult to say which version of software was being run at any time because the system will load new software after every power loss and/or reboot.
I wonder what this bug fix did:
released January 15, 2016
Meteobridge PRO: fixes bugs in delta computation.
Re: Need clerification on how rain is measured...
It seems like I have the same problems with my setup (VP2+Meteobridge)

Re: Need clerification on how rain is measured...
My Davis base station showed up today. The first thing I learned is that there is another station 1 in my area. I had placed the station temporarily almost directly under the ISS (this happens to be a null in the transmission pattern of the dipole antenna on the transmitter). It found a station 1, and I was trying to figure out why there was no solar or UV data. Then I realized it was reading a different temperature than the meteobridge pro...
I have since changed the station to 2, changed the meteobridge pro to 2, moved the Davis station out of the ISS null, and programmed it to listen to station 2.
I do not know if this was the cause of the low rain readings yet.
I have also mounted a 4" rain gauge 6" from the Davis rain gauge to be able to make valid comparisons.
If I can get my database issues resolved, I will be able to get more info on this low reading issue.

Re: Need clerification on how rain is measured...
Just released update does fix a bug in rain total computation.
I hope this will solve the rain related issues discussed in this thread.
I set this thread to "solved". If problems related rain show up again, please open a new thread.
