Rain Rate isn't accurately reported when using meteobridge

Post by pquattrini »

Hello, I have a Davis Instruments 6163, I have the meteobridge and meteostick but when using these it doesn't report rain rate as seen on my Vantage pro 2 display. It seems to average the rain rate out over an entire hour. When I disconnect the meteobridge and go directly through the Davis logger via weather link it reports correctly. I would really like to use the meteobridge so I don't have to have my computer turned on 24 hours a day, is there anything I can do to resolve this issue?

Thanks!

Rain rate is not defined very properly. Some see it as the amount of rain that has fallen last 60 minutes other see it as the projetion into the next 60 minutes when it continues raining the amount it currently does. I don't know what Weather link displays. Meteobridge shows rain rate compareable to the Davis Console. Might not be 100% the same but should be close by.

I've recently seen a discrepancy in the meteostick/bridge compared to my Vantage console and CoCo rain gauge. Tonight we had 0.09 in of rain, verified on the console and Coco at 0.09 in. Howeverm Meteobridge reported only 0.01 in total accumulation.

The enclosed Wunderground image for the time (just under an hour for the 0.08 - 0.09 rate) doesn't show the accumulation going up.

My current config is: Meteobridge 3.0 (Jul 21 2016, build 10197), FW 1.4
and Meteostick: Meteostick Version 2.4

Still new to getting this accurate. they only thing different was that this past weekend I deleted all data trying to figure out a signal loss issue.

The graph does show the total rain figure going up by 0.01. That the rain rate is showing more is not a contradiction as rain rate is a prediction into the future what rainfall in next hour might be in total when rain intensity will stay as is.
