how to connect usb thumb drive

Post by RottenMutt »

I bought a Ambient Weather weatherbridge server with Meteohub installed. I plugged in a 16GB thumb drive into the hub. I formated it ext4 before plugging it in. is there a way to access the drive over the network. i saw a reference to that somewhere. don't see where it is mounted in file system.

perhaps i don't know what i'm doing.

You're best to create a separate thread for other issues so the setup of FTP doesn't get lost in the thread called ""how to connect usb thumb drive"

That said setup of FTP is listed here near the bottom of the page.

No special format needed and the USB thumb will only be used for storing the application stack downloaded from the Internet. So any small thumb drive will do.

so what is the benefit of inserting a thumb drive if it is only used to store the application stack from the internet. when booting can it load the application stack from the usb drive? Also i thought that after inserting the thumb drive it would show in the system tab, but it doesn't.
usb drive has two files, image.tgz and persist.db.tar

i thought i could save weather data to the usb thumb drive.

i attempted to setup a service, my only choices for service are:
  • email
    twitter
    http request
    ftp upload
    sftp upload
    camera ftp upload
    mysql requests
    script execution
    sms notification
and event type:
  • periodical
    specific time
    alarm
i setup ftp and email. when creating an event, i selected periodically, and it is looking for a template (with no way to select one) and a file path.
i'm stumped...

Have you checked the FTP section of the Push Services?
