Server Status

Post by admin »

With the latest patches we think the server is now in the status intended when starting the journey end last year. It was not just changing hardware and colocation partner
  • it was also about changing the Linux OS (from an outdated SuSe to Ubuntu),
  • using a newer mySQL version and migrating a database of nearly 4TB in size without dropping new incoming data during the transition
  • changing from apache web server to nginx and as nginx is not providing a mod-perl module like apache it also meant to port the perl scripts to php in order to handle the large number of web requests efficiently,
  • switching over to lets encrypt certificates completely,
  • reworking the core applications doing the admin interface and the charting from 32 bit to 64 bit and setting up a new compilation chain for this.
Listing this is meant to make it a bit more understandable, why there were some hickups here and there. However, the changes were necessary and I hope we are basically fine now for the next few years.

You can inspect server status by this link: https://wiki.meteoplug.com/wiki/index.php/Server_Status
Looking at the CPU load you will see that changes done yesterday (porting of the live data scripts to php) brought a dramatic relief on the server load.

Thank you for your patience and sorry for any inconvenience!

Appreciate the insights and thanks for all the work!

Looks like there's another server glitch as we speak (no graphs are created, no response from the server).
Have you seen my posting about the "infinit loading cycle"? (viewtopic.php?f=63&t=14533&start=15#p32054)
Has this been solved, too? I cannot test at the moment because the server is down. Will check as soon as it is up again and will report back.

Meteoplug wieder völlig down, langsam wird das wirklich inakzeptabel.
Boris, das geht so nicht, Jahrelang alles wirklich super und in letzter Zeit solch ein Chaos.
ist echt nicht schön. :(

I really wonder why this has happened again after the breakdown from last week! Sorry I can not understand this!  Hope you will be able to run it properly with no "black outs"...! Thanks!
