New MB , SMTP mail issue. **solved**
Grüezi
My brand new MB is now working , now in training phase & parameters setting
I can't send any mail via "test mail" button
- MB in DHCP config
- MB "service settings" : auth TLS ; port 465 ; user & password double checked ; STP host = smtp.orange.fr
- tested with 2 providers ( free.fr & orange.fr ) both requesting smtp on port 465 with SSL/TLS
- never any error message on MB !
- test failed also with port 587 ( as suggested in viewtopic.php?t=17576 ) , neither with port 25 nor with starttls
spam box double checked in thunderbird , and in the ISP webmail
- these smtp parameters works fine to send maisl via Thnunderbird
is there any mean to check internet & DNS ( expert mode ... )
any help will be welcome
for information ( command line sythax guessed from other forum posts )

Re: New MB , SMTP mail issue
Start with Authentication: none
What is the STP host: you refer, do you mean SMTP Host?
User: ? is not the user id being sent to, nor is the password
Port: will be dependent on your ISP
Double check SMTP Host: & correct Port:
To-Addr: A valid email address matching SMTP Host:
From Addr: Any valid email address

Re: New MB , SMTP mail issue
- Authentication: none => does not work
- STP host: yec , a typo error , read : SMTP Host
- user & password are double checked and typed in the MB panel "services"
- port 465 as required by ISP
my origianl settings : To-Addr: Any valid email address / From Addr: A valid email address matching SMTP Host
To-Addr: A valid email address matching SMTP Host & From Addr: Any valid email address
surprising ... i did so : does not work
so , are there any means to investigate what happens ?

Re: New MB , SMTP mail issue
At a low level using
Authentication: none
SMTP Host: mail.provider.net.xy (as a typical example format)
User: Test (no password)
To-Addr: a proper email address (relative to mail.provider.net.xy etc)
From-Addr: noreply@anything.com
Using ports 25 or 587
What happens?

Re: New MB , SMTP mail issue
Hello
nothing new ... nothing happens
and no message from meteobridge ( text in red color top of tab "service settings" )
=> when testing ftp , it is OK and i have this message in red color top of tab "service settings" :

Re: New MB , SMTP mail issue
The only difference I see in that is the ISP provider
Re: New MB , SMTP mail issue
Orange tells this:
Some providers enforce that From-Address is from the same domain, here "orange.fr" to avoid spamming.

Re: New MB , SMTP mail issue
Hi admin , and thanks to consider my issue
What you quote above is exactly what i try first (see my 1st post) and exactly the parameters i use in my Thunderbird mailer ...
I try again , as usual , i get the message "Meteobridge settings successfully reloaded " when clicking "save"
but nothing new ... , damn !!
Just before hanging myself
, i try a foolish parameter : set port to 587 ( idea found in viewtopic.php?t=17576 )
and it works !
BUT
- neither message ( succeed or failed ) from the MB after clicking "test email"
- nor green mark
what the hell is this mystery !

Hi Mattk
Login via chromium , connexion is also OK , mails are received .
But no green tick nor message from MBpro2
logout
login via firefox , and before clicking "test" , green tick is already here !! ,
after clicking "test" , this message appears : "Test email has been sent without any reported errors"
( message never seen before
)
OS = Linux mint LMDE 5 Elsie / base: Debian 11.2 bullseye
firefox : version 119.0.1 / noscript , ghostery & adblock set to "trusted" for MBpro2
