Update 4.5x (experimental)
Update V4.5x (NSLU2, x86, SheevaPlug) enthält die folgenden Änderungen:
* Dehnt den Testzeitraum bis zum 31.1.2010 aus.
* Neu und experimentell: Fügt Unterstüzung zum Senden von Wetterdaten zu Testzwecken eines in der Entwicklung befindlichen Meteohub-Online-Dienstes hinzu. Dieses Senden von Wetterdaten erfolgt alle 10 Minuten und kann auf der Seite "Einstellungen" deaktiviert werden. Es werden lediglich Wetterdaten und technische Informationen über die auszuwertenden Sensoren und der Wetterstation übertragen. Es findet keine Übertragung von Zugangsdaten (Meteohub, Wetternetzwerke, E-mail, FTP) oder anderen sensiblen Informationen statt. Bei ausgeschalteter Option werden garkeine Daten in das Test-Netzwerk übertragen. Dorthin gesendete Daten werden nicht veröffentlich und dienen ausschließlich Testzwecken.

Hi,
die Datei lässt sich nicht runterladen. Es kommt die Meldung: "The document must be approved before downloading."
Habe "Agree" gesetzt und auf Download gedrückt und lande dann bei den normalen Firmeware-Downloads. Obendrüber steht dan der erwähnte Text!

At this stage I have no problem uploading this kind of data.
For transparency purposes it's maybe a good idea to make the most recently uploaded file available in the "log files" section? In this way we can just see what has been send from out own station.
By making things available on one own meteohub you might get a better chance that people are enabling this feature (even the most suspicious ones).

As a more general comment I'm fine with this technique for diagnostics, but am unlikely to leave it on 24/7 on both my meteohubs. I deliberately keep my uploads to a modest volume. If these diagnostics were enabled the meteohubs would be uploading a greater volume of data to your server than to mine! :laugh:
Maybe the 'local copy' could cache the last so many hrs worth of reports (e.g. 24hrs)?
Maybe with a flag value in the file (or as part ofthe file name?) to indicate if it had been uploaded or not? Then if you needed diagnostics to solve a particular problem the user could turn on the feature and it would upload anything not previously uploaded from the cache as well as the 'live' stream for the duration of the testing?
Just a thought...

Update 4.5x had a bug that prevents ebox-3300 and ebox-4300 from booting. If you have suffered this, do as follows:
1) take sd card from your ebox and put it into a card reader connected to linux system
2) check on the linux system with "dmesg" what device id gets assigned to it. I assume /dev/sdg for now
3) mount first partition of it by "mount /dev/sdg1 /mnt"
4) copy old fstab by "cp /mnt/etc/fstab.hdc /mnt/etc/fstab"
5) unmount sd card "umount /dev/sdg1"
6) put sd card back into ebox and restart.
Sorry, for any inconvenience. Fresh 4.5x (x86 build number 1272 or later) has this bug fixed. ebox 3300 and ebox 4300 owners can now update without risk.

According to the volume of data to be uploaded, Meteohub does a compression of that before doing the upload. So volume keeps reasonable low and should not add significant weight to your uploads. However, if you go for minimum upload volumes or frequency, please disable the upload test feature.
To make uploaded data more transparent on logfiles page is a nice idea. I will try to implement this. At the moment I do not plan to make this upload thing a persistent feature. It just gives my Meteohub-related project some real world traffic to cope with. When you let your Meteohub send this data to my server, you do me a favor. If you don't want to have the data sent for any reason (security, bandwidth, etc) please switch off the option. I fully understand that.
