Update 4.6s

Update to Meteohub V4.6s (NSLU2, x86, SheevaPlug) brings these features:

• support for "meteonews" weather network (not yet operational)
• compensation of bad time data in vantage logger when reading internal vantage logger data
• better handling of sensors not received from vantage (wind, rain)
• support for reading internal vantage logger data when using a meteoplug client
• protection of activation code against unwanted deletion
• adds a new addressing schema for USB serial converters that reflects the physical connector the converter is connected to. This allows to use multiple usb-serial connections and to have these devices named in a proper way. Device identifier is "/dev/ttyMHxy", where x indicates the usb bus number and y the usb device number on the bus. In case of an additional USB hub the schema is "/dev/ttyMHxyz", where x is usb bus, y is bus of usb hub and z is usb device number. Old "/dev/ttyUSB*" schema is also kept in place. You can choose which one to use.

Is it possible to switch of the download of the Davis Logger?
I'm using 2 Meteohub systems, one system in Portugal where the Davis station is located and one station in the Netherlands connected via TCP/IP Mteohub to the Davis station in Portugal.
If I restart the system in Portugal there are no problems but after the upgrade to 4.6r or 4.6s on the system in the Netherlands the system hung by syncing

Thanks, I think I have fixed this now.

Your situation is very special as you read data from Vantage daisy-chained via TCPIP from another Meteohub that has a Vantage directly connected. Adding the Vantage logger read-out functions I did not took care of this very special daisy-chaining feature of Meteohub. I changed the Meteohub logger in a way, that the daisy-chained Meteohub does just read the live data and has no access to the data coming from Vantage's internal logger. I think you might be the only one using cascaded Meteohubs. However, great to see that even such special features of Meteohub are used I never took much attention to this... so I learned again...

Thanks for letting me probing with your system. Hopefully, data gaps are not too large by that.

It's nice to have two weather stations in different country's, I use the data to compare the values and to make nice graphics. You can see the gap, this is the straight line, first part was the transfer of the system and the last hour or so was your gap.

Tomorrow I upgrade the system to the latest version and I let you know if it's working.

I will provide an update called "4.6s-experimental" which has this fix (and some enhancements still in development). Please take this one to test with cascaded Meteohubs in case of a connected Vantage. Otherwise, please stick with "4.6s", a new more tested "4.6t" will appear soon.

Boris, I have cascaded Meteohubs as well. I have a SheevaPlug (WeatherPlug) collecting data from two different VP2s. The SheevaPlug sends data to my old NSLU2 which uploads a second set of clientraw files for the second VP2. Both Meteohubs are running 4.6r. On Oct 31, I started getting Meteohub log messages similar to HeinrichH's on the NSLU2, but the problem self cleared up on Nov 1. A few days ago, the problem re-occured and hasn't cleared up like before. The following is typical of the continuous messages the NSLU2 is outputting:

There is a "4.6s-experimental" ready for installation (update auto). You might give this a try. You can update back to regular "4.6s" from there, if you encounter problems.

As I doubt that many other user have cascaded Meteohubs, it might be worth a try. Without your feedback I can hardly bring things regarded cascaded Meteohubs into a stable situation for the next official release. "4.6s-experimental" seems to work ok as the second Meteohub in the queue. I have not tested if it is also suitable to be used for the Meteohub directly connected to the weather station.

Thanks, for me it's a challenge to see what's possible to do with relative cheap equipment and programs according the expensive equipment I use professional. I'm working in the industrial automation.
Just ordered some 1-wire equipment like lightning sensors to connect this also to the two Meteohub systems
The 1-wire system will be connected trough the RFXcom receivers and a RFXsensor type 3 on both locations.
