download putty and open an ssh session with your meteohub.
there you can check the logs in
/var/log

if you are not familiar with linux then try
http://winscp.net/eng/download.php

it has a GUI and allows you to open the above directory and the logs

NSLU2 and update. Very likely a dead USB-Stick ...

Hi
OK. First thing that I have done is downloaded the "WinSCP" Second, I have made a new 4Gb usb key image on a new Sandisk 4gb stick, with the latest update?

I cannot reach the nslu2 via IE, I do get the same green page via Firefox though.

I have opened WinSCP and gone through to it using the username and password that is standard, It will let me in as far as the username, but will not accept the password. See snagit pictures attached.

After entering the password, I get an password/access denied warning.

Hi

Just managed to get in, as I went to close winscp. Here are the results, not that I understand them. You may be able to shed some light for me "wfpost"

Hmm,

The files that you are showing are from a brand new meteohub image. After you've copied the image (using rawwrite to a stick) meteohub will normally extract the files on the stick during the 1st boot cycle.

Apparently this doesn't happen with your setup, so apparently something goes wrong during this initial bootup.

- Are you sure that you've copied the stick according to the procedure?
- Could it be that you need to reflash your NSLU2, it might be that something is wrong in the onboard flash.

Hi YJB
I have done everything according to the key setup for a 4Gb stick. :D

Yes it may need the re-flash. I was in at the start of this web site, well near enough, you would think that I should know all this, but I dont. :( :(

It is so long since I have been on the forum, the format has changed. I want to try the re-flash of the nslu2, but can no longer find the manuals on doing this.

I cant navigate around the forum so easy anymore, is it me getting older or do other people find it a bit more of a maze?

If you can point me in the direction of the manuals, then I may be in with a chance.

Thanks

You are more than welcome to jump in; it looks like I need all the help that I can obtain. There is definitely something amiss here in my system. It has been working fine for 3 years or more. Everything that is apart from the sensors is sitting in the loft of the house. I don’t think that it was the cold that did it, if anything it is down to the nsul2 and its power supply. I do have another new one. But what I want to try Thursday is a re-install of the nslu2 firmware.
I have all that data on that stick, not sure if there is a windows based program to extract it?
So keep bobbing in to have a look at what transpires with my kit.
Thanks for the link, most welcome. :D :D :D

I think in a pinch, Linux Reader 1.1 can copy out your data and graph definitions if you are using WinXP. It is free. I used it once after a USB thumb drive failed on my NSLU2. Your raw weather is under "public\weather\yearmo". I didn't copy the other files, but let the NSLU2 rebuild those with a recompute.

Hi d_l

Downloaded the program from diskinternals.com, I am in the process of saving the data. It is about 32% through at the moment, after about 2 hours   .

Once this is done I will re-load the firmware into the NSLU2, keeping my fingers crossed that this will bring it out of the "hole" that it is in at the moment. :!: :!:

Don't forget to copy your graph definitions. Unfortunately I don't think there is a similar way to save the graph upload schedules. "Back up settings" might do it, but with a garbled USB stick, I was leery of using that feature and chose to rebuild schedules from scratch.

graph upload schedules >>>>>

meteohubs crontab is there:
/var/spool/cron/crontabs/
filename:
root

Save this file and copy it to the new system

or

Save the file -- open it with an editor, copy the content
open an SSH session with the new system
type:
crontab -e
paste the content by clicking the right mouse key
ctrl-X --> Y --> Enter

Hi All

Just to go back for a refresh on my top post, this screen only appears when using Firefox Ver3.6.12 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 Firefox/3.6.12 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729))

I have now got my nslu2 working again, :D :D :D :D I re-loaded the firmware into the nslu2 using the "upgrade utility" and with the file "meteohub-firmware-2.3".

I am still using my original USB 4 GB key, :D :D with all my data on. It is at this moment re-computing. So all appears to be OK, apart from the use of Mozilla Firefox, which gives me this green screen above.

Has anybody come across this problem?
