1A is enough but the Davis power supply might not hold the 5V as precisely when giving a bit more amps as that is irrelevant for the console. The easiest way to upgrade the power supply without having to do any wiring is to purchase the Davis 6627 USB to Davis Plug Power Cord and a 3 to 4 Amp USB Power Supply. It’s just plug & play.
