Evapotranspiration Data not available

Post by heinz_nt »

Hello,

we have a Vantage Pro2 with Solar sensor in combination with a MB Pro red. Both are connected via RF. Sensor data for solar radiation is available in MB. Unfotunately we get no data for the logical sensor sol0evo (evapotranspiration). As far as we understand the value is not broadcasted from the Davis console, but will be calculated in MB.
Under "Define Chart" it is not possible to set a unit for the sensor sol0evo . What are we doing wrong?

We also tried to connect the MB directly to Davis console via USB-port using the Davis 6510 USB adapter. No matter we choose in the setup tab of the MB for device (//dev/ttyMH, or //dev/ttyMH113) we can't connect via USB to the console. Is this not possible?

Is there another possibility to get the sensor data from the Vantage Console (indoor temperature and humidity, evapotranspiration)? The sensors inside the MB except barometric pressure don't make sense for us.

regards
Heinz

The MB-pro red can also read the data from a davis logger attached inside the console.
As it did not work first time, it could be a 'seating' problem:
Remove all power, also the batteries, from the console.
Carefully remove the logger and wait at least 30 seconds
Firmly re-insert the logger into the console.
Insert the batteries and power unit.

Deselect current selected station in the MB-Pro
Maybe do a restart and check if no new data is arriving.
Connect the USB cable into the MB-Pro
Then you should be able to select the USB-attached Davis VP2 station.

There is no other solution for getting calculated values such as forecast & Evapotranspiration.
You then also get a lower inside temp figure, although the MB has calibration setup for all sensors which is adequate in almost all cases.

Thanks Wim, that worked!

With the restart it was possible to connect the console via USB. For the Device setting we found different possibilities depending on which USB-port is used -

//dev/ttyMH -> no connection
//dev/ttyMH111-> works with USB port front
//dev/ttyMH112->works with Mini USB port rear
//dev/ttyMH113 -> ?

Is it normal, that changes in the tab PRIMARY STATION are only visible until I press the SAVE button and then the tab shows again the default values? It is the same if points are activated in the section DAVIS STATION setup.After pressing SAVE the hooks disappear.

One problem remains: In the GRAPH_ DEFINE CHART tab it is not possible to choose a unit for sol0evo and a reference period (h/d/m similar to Rain total). Only min/max/average are available Is it possible to change this for users? Or is there a default reference period setting by MB?
