Error: wget: unable to resolve host address **solved**

Post by mkmiecik »

Hi,

I recently bought my first weather station (Oregon WMR-88) and am about to configure meteobridge on TP-LINK TL-MR3020 (plus USB hub). I successfully configured network, as I'm able to remotely connect meteobridge over Internet (from another network). The connection between weather station and meteobridge via USB hub works well, too, as I can observe correct data in the "Live Data" section. But I'm not able to get my data sent to Weather Underground. On the top of the "Live Data" section it says:

"2014-11-23 17:13:49 Error: wget: unable to resolve host address 'rtupdate.wunderground.com' (no more tries)"

Image

The Weather Network section says (I triple-checked all inserted data):

An then, there is the bit worrying "No Internet Access" in the Network section, which may not be all true as, again, I'm accessing the meteobridge over the Internet.

My setup again is:
Oregon Scientific: WMR-88
TP-LINK TL-MR3020 (plus USB hub)

Any hints?

Best regards,
Marcin

This looks like DNS an other functions run into a time-out error caused by an extremely
slow Internet connection or one with poor latency. Are you connected via 3G or satellite?

The meteobridge is connected over DSL via a wireless router and there is very good wireless coverage where it's placed. The connection speed in the home network is 20 GBit/s. There is also no lag while accessing meteobridge over Internet.

When I login I can check with pings, that DNS resolution is extremely slow. That means
your provider has a massive problem there. Fortunately, you can use google DNS at 8.8.8.8

I switched your IP setup to static, using google DNS and setting IP to 192.168.0.99

Now it works fine again...
