I'm on 4.3 (Meteobridge 4.3 (Mar 27 2020, build 13442), FW 1.3) and still getting:

My concern is why doesn't SFTP work.

I'm using FTP as the backup.

Your results match mine. I'd prefer to turn off my ftp daemon on the receiving host.

I re-added it, and I removed (per your suggestion) the ftp://user:pass@host:port/ and left the /path/file portion.

The live data tab shows sftp no upload.

I removed (on #6) the ftp://username:password@hostname.domain:21/.

Service #6 is defined as SFTP but it has a legacy FTP upload command in it "ftp://...". That does not fit. If it is selected as SFTP then it needs a SFTP fitting destination defined in Path field and vice versa. Did you try replacing "ftp://" by "sftp://"? You should also be able to strip the "ftp ...

I've reverted to ftp for now. I'll try (re)-setting up sftp tonight and post (and see if things change).

That said, it had been working fine since the addition of sftp, but on January 22, 2018 at 20:05 US/CST(UTC-6) was the last upload through multiple upgrade reboots.

Looks like on or about 22/Jan/2018, MeteoBridge stopped uploading via sFTP.
Why?
A reboot had the FTP start again, but I'd prefer sFTP. Did that get broken?

a REBOOT of my meteobridge fixed it.

It *DOES* require a reboot.
